Fairy Dells & Rustic Bowers, written by the Canadian preservationist Joseph Ballard and published in 2018, is an extremely interesting book about the development and construction of the 1,000-acre Victoria Park, which was founded in 1887. It is full of romance and lore about, for example, ‘Magic Benches’ and exotic plants, and is heavily illustrated with the photographs of William Notman.
