We Are Nova Scotia is a photo journey of people from around the province of Nova Scotia, showcased through the lens of renowned photographer Anne Launcelott.

Travelling throughout the province and photographing complete strangers with such diverse backgrounds was pure joy. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and generous with their time confirming the reputation Nova Scotians have of being so down to earth.

This book features 100 portraits of people from around the Province of Nova Scotia. It is an attempt to show Nova Scotians in their real contexts – an honest portrayal of who this province really is.

Anne Launcelott is doubly gifted. She has a great eye and creates beautiful photographs. The result is Anne’s opus magnus – a gorgeous, intimate collection of portraits of real Nova Scotians, taken over a two-year period, during a pandemic. From musicians to fishermen, shopkeepers to politicians – We Are Nova Scotia is a celebration of who we really are – an honest rendering of the diverse human fabric of Canada’s Ocean Playground.
